This gourd revealed a rare satin opalescence inside when cut, making it special enough to be designed as a medicine bowl. The bear totem is associated with protection, strength, introspection, and healing. The gold heartline is the breath of life or life force. Turquoise stimulates understanding and is a favorite of healers; turquoise heishi beads were inlaid over zigzag lightening; turquoise embossing powder was used on the frames and edge.
